Raftup Safety

Glass containers should not be use on boats.

Skippers should frequently check their boat for hazards and for anything that can be tracked to other boats by foot traffic.

Any real or perceived unsafe condition on or around a vessel should be immediately brought to the attention of the skipper and/or crew.

From dusk until dawn, the vessel with the highest mast and both outside vessels in each raft should display anchor lights.

In the event of a medical emergency Coast Guard dispatchers and local 911 operators will be aware of our group, its location and the closest vehicle and helicopter access.

Raftup Etiquette

Guest moving about rafted vessels should use care not to stress equipment not intended as a foot step or handrail.

Sand is an enemy of boats, small and large. When accepting a dinghy ride from shore to a boat always ensure your feet, shoes and person are free of sand, mud, dirt and trash.

When moving about on rafted vessels take care not to track anything other than clear water between docks, boats or dinghies.

Do not use a head on a boat other than your own without the host’s permission.

Guests who spill food or drinks on a boat should thoroughly clean the area and should advise the skipper of the accident.

Audio output should not be enjoyed by adjacent boats without their permission.

Observe appropriate ecological concerns and bring back more trash than you take.

Vessels departing an event should not leave jettisoned crew behind for others to deal with. This is in poor taste and could constitute a violation of the Clean Water Act.
